Description


Learn how to design and draw solutions ranging from everyday items to architecture

  • Develop an Architectural solution for a specific site

  • Design a product that considers people's needs

  • Develop abilities in traditional and computer based design processes

Prerequisites

Nil, but DVC at Year 10 would be an advantage

Assessment

There are 20 credits available in this course, 5 credits for each Achievement Standard. 

  • 10 Internal credits 

  • 10 External credits (One of these external standards is optional)

11DIGI

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

Description


The focus in Year 11 is on basic programming, developing media outcomes and human computer interaction.  This is a broad and interesting course which allows you to recognise where your skills and interests are.  This course includes:

  • Programming a game using basic programming languages

  • Using iterative design methods to develop digital outcomes

  • Exploring a variety of digital media tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to create digital outcomes

  • Understanding the interfaces that allow humans to interact with computers

FOOD AND NUTRITION

Description


  • To enable students to develop health-enhancing attitudes to food and nutrition

  • Develop skills in food preparation 

  • Explore hygenic and safe food practices

  • Identify and reflect on factors that influence food choice and use this knowledge to make informed food decisions

  • Explore the influences of other cultures on the food we eat

An interest in the study of food, and how it affects the body

  • Design and make items from resistant materials such as wood, metal, and plastic

TEXTILES

Description


  • You will use the Technology Process to design and create two outcomes for an authentic context

  • These could be a garment or product for yourself or a client

  • You will learn many new techniques and processes, use specialist equipment and be inspired to think about sustainability and testing new ideas
